There are several weight loss centers in Long Beach that can help you in your weight loss journey, but first you need to learn about these myths that you have been hearing all your life.
Myth # 1- Skipping Meals Will Help You Lose Weight
This is so not true. In fact, the opposite of this is true. It has been seen that people who skip meals, especially breakfast, are a lot heavier than people who eat a balanced and nutritional breakfast and take 4 to 6 small meals throughout the day.
Myth # 2-Need To Cut Calories to Lose Weight
You should only cut your calories if you binge eat, because otherwise if you are eating a proportionate diet then cutting calories will have a negative effect. By cutting down calories, you will malnourish your body and starve your body that will lead to low metabolism. The end result will be that you will not lose any weight even if you cut down your calories.
Myth # 3- Only Drastic Diets Work
This is only good for losing weight fast. Remember the weight you lose fast comes back even faster. There is no way these diets work. Don’t even try them; they aren’t good for you.
Myth #4- You Have to Leave Your Favorite Foods
The answer to this myth is just one word and that is moderation. Depriving yourself will not lead to any weight loss. If you love chocolate then small bites or fun sized bars every few days will not cause any problems. One way to effectively lose weight while eating your favorite food is to keep a calorie limit per day. This way you will know how much of your favorite food can you consume.
Myth # 5- Overeating Is Caused By Hunger
Overeating has nothing to do with hunger. When you are hungry, it’s a signal from the body that you need to fuel up; however, this does not mean in any way that you can go on a binging spree. There are several reasons why people overeat, and most of these reasons are not physical but psychological. The main reasons are depression, anxiety, stress, sadness, loneliness and even hormonal changes in the body that causes mood swings. A lot of times we substitute love and support with food as a means of satisfying our needs and feeling comforted.
Myth 6- Foods Labeled ‘Low Fat’ Are Good for Me
This is so not true. Foods labeled as reduced fat may have lesser calories than its full fat version, but the problem is that a lot of times people tend to over eat these low fat substitutes thinking it s good for them.
