Vinyl floors come in a wide variety of styles and looks. They are durable and easy to clean. However, just because they’re easy to clean doesn’t mean they can be cleaned the same as other types of floors. Because of they are made of polyvinyl chloride, it is important that they are cleaned organically and naturally.
Deodorizer and Cleaner
Vinegar contains acetic acid. Acetic acid is a wonderful disinfectant and cleaner. It tackles most kinds of bacteria. Because vinegar contains acetic acid and because vinegar is 100% all natural, it is a wonderful base for a vinyl floor cleaner. Rubbing alcohol is also a wonderful cleaner and promotes shine. In order to make an all natural rubbing alcohol and vinegar Vinyl Flooring cleaner, add two cups of warm water to a bucket or large spray bottle. From there, add 1/2 cup of white vinegar and 1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol to the spray bottle or bucket. For the deodorizing effect, add a couple drops of a favorite essential oil to the mixture. Orange, peppermint, jasmine and grape-seed oil are the most, popular types of essential oils to add to a homemade floor cleaner. From there, dip the mop into the bucket and clean the floor as you normally would. If the spray bottle method is being used, dispense the cleaning solution from the spray bottle and use a clean sponge or soft bristled brush to scrub the floor manually. Once it is sparkling and clean, allow the floor to air dry.
Stain Cleaner
A baking soda paste will always help get rid of hard to remove stains on Vinyl Flooring. Because baking soda is a mild alkali, it causes any type of dirt or grime to immediately dissolve. In order to make a baking soda paste, add a few tablespoons of baking soda to a bowl with hot water. Mix the two ingredients together until a paste is formed. Apply the paste to the stain and rub with a soft cloth. Rinse the paste away with damp and clean soft cloth.
