Nicotine is an essential part of vaping – it’s what provides the “kick” experience for vapers. Originally extracted from the tobacco plant, it needs to be diluted in propylene glycol, or PG, prior to being used further in vaping. This is because it readily dissolves in PG and makes it much easier to mix with other substances. The resulting dilution is then added to a proportion of vegetable glycerin, or VG, and a proportion of flavoring, to make a typical e-liquid. Depending on the vaper’s preference, the proportion of PG to VG in the e-liquid can be varied.
If you’re more for PG than VG, here are three benefits of VG based nicotine you might want to consider:
- VG is natural.
VG, as the name suggests, comes from vegetables much like most cooking oils used everywhere in the world today. As opposed to PG being synthetic, VG is natural and is widely used in commercial products ranging from medical and pharmaceutical to food.
- VG is for cloudchasers.
With VG being thicker in consistency and thus richer in organic compounds, it is able to produce much bigger clouds than PG. This is particularly amusing to cloudchasers. The higher the proportion of VG in the e-liquid, the more vapor produced, the bigger the clouds.
- VG is less dehydrating.
In addition to the ability to produce bigger clouds, the thicker consistency of VG also makes it less able to absorb water than PG. This is a relief to most vapers simply because vaping, in general, dries out the mouth over time.
With these benefits, VG based nicotine is now much preferred over PG based nicotine among moderate vapers. For those who prefer hardcore, however, PG based nicotine is still the way to go.
