If signs were secured to a glass storefront and visible scratches remain after advertising materials are removed, the following steps can be completed to assist with removing visible damage. Once glass has been restored, maintaining its surface and avoiding the application of abrasive materials will prevent additional damage.

Cleaning The Storefront’s Exterior And Applying Polish
After a few drops of a glass cleanser have been applied to a lint-free towel, exterior glass needs to be wiped off with firm strokes. Cerium oxide is a polishing agent that is often used to restore the shininess of jewelry. It is a product that can also be used to eliminate scratches in glass. Cerium oxide should be poured onto a buffing sponge. A sponge needs to be moved around in small circles in order to fade scratches. If enough of the product is added to scratched glass, signs of damage can be eliminated completely. Excess polish needs to be removed from glass with a clean cloth once scratches have been treated.
Removing Scratches With A Homemade Mixture
If cerium oxide is not available, a homemade scratch removal product can be made. A small amount of baking powder needs to be poured into a disposable container. After a few drops of water have been added to a container, the two ingredients need to be stirred with a wire whisk until they are blended. More water can be added to the baking powder if needed. A buffing sponge needs to be dipped into the mixture before wiping each scratch on the exterior side of the glass.
Consistent pressured should be applied to the back of a buffing sponge during the scratch removal process. More baking soda and water that have been blended can be applied to each scratch if necessary. A glass surface needs to be cleaned with a fresh cloth that has a small amount of glass cleaner applied to it.
