Buying An Excavator Drill Attachment: New Or Used?

by | Mar 3, 2016 | Hydraulic Equipment Supplier

People refer to excavator under several names. They are simply diggers or mechanical shovels. Some types are called trackhoes or JCBs. No matter how a company may employ them – and they perform a myriad of tasks from digging holes to mining to snow removal – with the right attachment, they are a necessary piece of equipment. The actual cost of the excavator and the expense of purchasing an excavator drill attachment of one sort or another can rely dig into a company’s purse.

Options

When it comes to excavating equipment, some companies may lease. These groups do not utilize the equipment on a regular basis. Companies who perform this work all the time usually buy the excavator. While they may budget for this right from the beginning, the addition of an excavator drill attachment or two may be more problematic. At this point, a company may look at the two primary options: used or new.

Buying a Used Excavator Drill Attachment

Whether a company chooses to purchase a used excavator drill attachment from another company, at auction or from a website, makes little difference. Caution is always required. If at all possible, the purchaser needs to try the piece of equipment out first. Unfortunately, this option is not the norm. Many sellers do not permit this. A company, if it wants the item at the low price offered, is expected to buy it untested and even unseen.

Where you may possibly be able to save on the cost and obtain a quality piece of equipment is from a company that sells refurbished equipment. In such instances, it may be possible to view and test the preowned excavator drill attachment. The seller may provide test results as proof of condition and even offer a limited warranty. However, no matter how good the product may prove to be, it will probably be an older model. This may limit its capabilities by current standards. Its age will also restrict its lifespan and probably result in the need for increased maintenance.

Buying a New Excavator Drill Attachment

Most of the issues associated with used equipment are avoidable by purchasing new. A new excavator drill attachment will be in the best of shape, have no mileage and not suffer from any of the problems of older used models. You need not worry about cracks, dents, and unexpected and sometimes costly, maintenance and repair problems.

When a company purchases a new product, the expectations are higher that its life span will be longer. A company can expect fewer issues such as repairs. If they occur, most likely the warranty will cover them. This type of guarantee, however, comes at a higher price than the used option.

New or Old Excavator Drill Attachment

If you have a company that requires high quality excavators and attachments, you have two basic options. You can buy used or new equipment. While much depends upon the budget of the company, it is important to pay attention to the sources of the equipment and the presence of certain guarantees such as a test drive and a warranty. If you require the latest technology with the lowest maintenance demands and highest durability and are able to find the financial wherewithal to afford it, you really have only one option. When it comes to purchasing an excavator drill attachment of any type the only possibility is to buy new.
