At the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, students can enroll in undergraduate and graduate Art Therapy Education programs. The Master of Arts in Art Therapy and Counseling (MAATC) program is specifically designed to teach people how to combine artistic expression with therapy to help others. Through this program, students come to learn the intellectual dimensions of art therapy theory. Students also engage in related fields such as counseling and psychology.
SAIC’s Art Therapy program is a national leader in articulating the role of the artist and art therapist. The program leads students to careers in art therapy and prepares them for application for registration and board certification with the Art Therapy Credentials Board.
Following graduation, students can share their passion for the arts with others in need, while also applying various therapeutic principles to help them through difficult periods in life.
