Twist out hairstyles are quick and easy to do and produce beautiful well-defined curls. If you already have naturally curly hair, it could work to your advantage depending on the twist out style you choose. However, the biggest challenge comes with keeping a twist out hairstyle from drooping in the hot and humid Georgia sun.
Here are some tips and some twist out products that can help.
Use a Detangler on Wet Hair and Comb Through Completely
Detangler works best on wet hair. It eases the comb-out process so that your hair is ready to twist out without getting frizzy or looking strange. Apply detangler from near your scalp to the ends of your hair, and then use a medium-toothed comb to comb through until there are no tangles.
Apply a Curl Cream to Moisturize and Set the Twist Curls
A curl cream does more than just set the twists. It adds a protective moisturizing layer against the harsh sun and it prevents humidity from making your hair droop. Rub this into your hair before you section it and begin the twisting process. The best twist out products are all natural and don’t add excess weight or greasy feeling to your hair.
Wait to Completely Dry Hair Before Untwisting or Combing out Twists
Blot your twists dry with an old cotton t-shirt and/or let them air dry. If you are in a hurry and don’t want to go outside with damp twists and hair that isn’t quite finished, use a blow dryer on lowest setting.
