Everyone needs lighting. In fact, it’s a common and ongoing expense. When you cut your lighting costs, you save money every month. Although LED is an excellent choice, fluorescent light has much to offer also. Here are just a few reasons to choose fluorescent lighting.
Old Problems Solved
Old fluorescent lights were noisy. If you listened closely, you could hear a buzzing sound, and at times it was loud. Also, as the bulbs aged, the sometimes flickered, and this made it hard to see. Thanks to modern technology, fluorescent bulbs give you noise-free light which does not flicker.
Years ago, it took time for old light fixtures to light up. In fact, they needed significant warm-up time. Modern ballasts provide instant light, so you have few reasons not to choose fluorescent light.
CFL Retrofits
Thanks to CFL technology, you can replace high energy incandescent bulbs with modern CFL bulbs. CFL means compact fluorescent lighting and these bulbs fit into standard incandescent sockets. Retrofitting is as easy as taking out the old bulb and replacing it with a new CFL bulb.
Cheaper than LED Retrofits
CFL bulbs cost less on average than LED replacements, and you receive many of the same benefits of LED. Here are some of the benefits CFL bulbs have to offer:
- Low energy use – a 60-watt equivalency CFL can use as little as 13 watts. That’s more than 4 times less power than incandescent.
- Maintenance – when you change to CFL, you’ll replace bulbs less often. In fact, most CFL bulbs last about six times longer than standard light bulbs. When you add this savings to the energy savings, it starts to add up
- Heat – standard bulbs get hot, and this can raise your air conditioning costs. Fluorescent light burns cool and keeps you cooler in summer.
